ABOUT

MY STORY

My name is Rebecca Infosino and I am an 18 year old that has previously sustained 3 concussions. For my Girl Scout Gold Award I decided to raise concussion awareness and concussion education amongst those around me with a target audience of athletes, parents of athletes, and athletic coaches. My first and second concussions were from volleyball in the eighth grade in which a ball hit me in the forehead and I lost my footing and fell backwards hitting my head on the gym floor. They occured within 3 months of each other and my symptoms included excessive tiredness and constant headaches. My third concussion was sustained in a car accident that same year during my first week of high school. We were T-boned and I hit the baack of my head on the car window. That concussion was my most serious. My symptoms included constant headaches, light and sound sensitivity, dizziness, confusion, balance issues, depression, excessive tiredness, and trouble focusing and concentrating. These symptoms last for a total of 5 months and at month 3 I enrolled in concussion physical therapy which gave me the first moments of relief that provided me with hope that I was recovering. I worked with CHOP and a group in Princeton called Specialized Physical Therapy. After my concussions I became passionate about the topic and decided to not only do my Gold Award on concussions but also to a pursure a degree in Physical Therapy and Athletic Training with a specialty in Concussions and Brain Trauma.
